Your chance to have say on local cancer care

[column]

Are you, or have you been, affected by cancer? Would you like to help shape future cancer services and care across the Fylde coast?

NHS Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is looking for people to form a cancer focus group to help achieve its vision that by 2030, patients will receive a faster diagnosis and better treatment.

The focus group forms part of the CCG’s five year cancer strategy, which has been developed in partnership with Blackpool CCG and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Fleetwood GP and Fylde and Wyre CCG cancer lead Dr Adam Janjua said: “Cancer is one of our eight priority areas, it causes 28 per cent of deaths in Fylde and Wyre, which increases to 40 per cent for people aged over 75. If we are to truly provide quality cancer services and care, then we need to fully engage and take on board the views of people who are, or have been, affected by cancer.

Dr Adam JanjuaWe will work closely with the group and ask them to share experiences and ideas and think about how local services can be improved for everyone. Ideally we’d like a wide a range of people as possible from across the Fylde Coast – male, female, old young, people from different ethnic backgrounds, etc – to form the group to make sure we take into account the needs of everyone.

“If you think you might like to be part of the group, or know someone who may be interested, please do contact us.”

If you would like to express an interest in being part of the CCG’s cancer focus group, or for more information, please email [email protected] or [email protected] by Friday 23 October 2015.
